Melissa Perales (USA/ Bln) moved to Berlin from Chicago in the 90’s. Her expertise lies in music, film and the culinary world. Since 1997 she belongs to the Schokoladen Kollektiv where she began her transition from film to music. She organises and promotes live-shows and film screenings since 2004 under the moniker M:Soundtrack . Melissa Perales is a founding member of Torstraßenfestival in Berlin. A genre inclusive music festival that happens every summer since 2011. She is a board member of all2gethernow.eV, a conference for new strategies in the music industry.
Since 2014 she has been a founding member of Music Pool Berlin. A central consulting point for musicians and music industry experts. Every week she is consulting musicians and helping them towards professional careers. Melissa is a partner in Supertape Berlin, a music supervising company, working on TV series & film. In 2017 Perales co-initiated the ‘We Make Waves w.V. a no genre festival & conference for *womxn, trans and non-binary people in the music industry.
Her new adventure Night School leaves the festival frame work and creates and episodic event series and platform for a mixed generational and intersectional community. With a mission to support marginalized womxn, trans and non-binary artists while promoting equality and diversity within our local music scene through representation, talks, workshops and connection.
