The character Maury111 revealed itself to the french musician Benjamin Ruby in a moment of epiphany. Former soloist in the children’s choir of the Opéra de Paris, Ruby played in various bands in the French capital before moving to Berlin to immerse himself in his new character. Defining Maury111’s music as “mysticosmic” pop, the sound is a mix of bionic sounds and introspective moods. Fascinated by desert landscapes since a trip to Joshua Tree, CA, Ruby travelled to Morocco in January 2020, staying with a Berber family on the edge of the Sahara, going on long solitary walks in the desert.
